In our youth, friends and I spent what seemed like endless hours on the beaches and in the surf of north San Diego county. From Leucadia to La Jolla, we literally were either in the waves or on the sand from dawn til night during those glorious golden summers. Most of the days and the rides kind of blend to together now but certain ones remain crystal clear in my mind's eye and all of them together make a collage of beautiful memories. This image is meant to reflect that. The title, a made-up word deriving from the Spanish "ola" for wave and the Latin or Greek prefix "tri" for three, refers to the overlay of three surfers on a single wave and board, but the more essential aspect of this painting is its attempt to distill the essence of those transcendent days.
